Sad Halloween

This year’s Halloween is a sad experience for me. For the first time ever I had to mis the kids Halloween parade at school, because I was in class. Tonight they went “trick or treating” without me, because I have to study for my midterm.
I feel very sorry for myself at this moment.

Blogging for me! Tech Task #7

I have been thinking what the ECMP class has meant to me so far. It was a class that I took to try and be better equipped for going back to teaching, but I even got more out of it than I expected. Other than learning about blogging, web sites, tools, voicethread [...]

Educator in a “nut shell”

I would like to quote the next:
My utmost goal as an educator is to inspire my students to READ actively and widely, to equip them to THINK
critically, to teach them to WRITE artfully and persuasively, and to train them to harness the power of TECHNOLOGY
to help SYNTHESIZE and EVALUATE the mass of information that bombards [...]

Not grades but LEARNING

I found this very interesting blog on The Fischbowl (Parent Teacher Conferences-Reflection). It talks about parent teacher interviews and how parents are only interested in what their kids can do to get better marks and grades. One teacher decided to move away from this “traditional” interview style and focus on the learning experience in [...]

Going through the basics

Today I listened to Drew Murphy on the K12 Online Conference (step by step – Building a Web 2.0 Classroom) We have covered all of it in our ECMP class, but it was good to have a “refreshers course”. It also gave me a guideline on how to plan and proceed [...]

ECMP

My life has a whole new meaning and direction since I started the ECMP class. Getting up in the morning does not mean to grab my coffee and paper any more. It means that I try to get up earlier and catch up on some reading on all the new posts of [...]

Movie making with Sony

After our class on Wednesday I was so excited to go home and make some movies with my Sony DVD digital camera. It was another chance at showing my family what I am learning in class. BUT, my camera did not have a Fire Wire Connection and I am trying to use [...]

Technology and communication

Today I received the following e-mail from one of my kids teachers. This is the absolutely the ideal information to put on a blog and streamline comunication. This way up to date information can be send out and kids can be collaborators on the spelling lists that she plans. I would definitely [...]

Comments on Sara’s blog.

I read Sara’s blog on bullying.
That is a great website to read through but also to keep. Sometimes we read comments or text messages that kids wrote but are not aware of the “underlying” things that are said. This is something that will happen when we teach and we have little [...]

Comments on David Warlick’s conference K12

Thought I will get my self in gear and ready for the “K12 Conference” by listening to David Warlick.
First of all I would like to say that after an hour of listening I am very excited with what is ahead of us.  Both with the conference and also being teachers in this  “new” world of [...]
